Here are more characters from the Mercury universe. I've changed up Malcolm's look recently. These characters are from a story called Malcolm McWoodchuck. The focus is a documentation of the college experience in through the eyes of Malcolm. Story entries will come in soon but until then here are some drawings:
Malcolm is a college student that attends Redwood University and wants to be a writer.
Miles is Malcolm's Roommate and is a entrepreneur.
Earl RiverBanks is Maalolm's childhood and roommate and music producer.
So I feel as though I need to reintroduce myself alot as changed since 2011:
My name is Jamal Makin Shabazz, and I am an aspiring storyteller attending Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) pursuing a Bachelor in Fine Arts from the school of Communication Arts in the Sequential Art Program in Savannah, GA.
I have had a strong passion for telling stories since I was small. This method of communication has been around for quite sometime and has been used in many forms with different functions. I've found that storytelling acts as a portal to a world where imagination can be used to create worlds. At best my imagination can be described as a vast and forever expanding universe. Within this universe, several planets exist each containing its own individual story within its lands and atmosphere. This universe exist within the three pound grey matter resting inside my skull.
I wish to share this vast universe with all whom are in search of stories that they can get lost in. In an effort to share these stories a home was founded in my studio, Mercury Animation Studios. The focus of MAS is to provide stories and characters for all ages that will provide progression in there lives. As Director Andrew Stanton saids "Every good story should make a promise that the story will lead somewhere" I want viewers to pull something special from these stories and always be able to use them for reference in there own lives. Through full length animated theatrical films, television programs and many other branches of media. The viewer will feel not only be entertained, but educated and enlightened. I’m very excited to see these plans come to fruition and l seek to work with as many storytellers and artist as possible.
In my Intro to Sequential Class I had come up with a story that could pretty much be about anything. So I came up with a character by the name of Paul whom likes throwing snowballs at people. I had a lot of fun with him and so did everyone else in the class. Here are some sketches of him.
He tends to get in trouble for his playful antics.
He also has a crush on a little fox girl. Her name is Kya.
